The Conversion of St Paul

The Conversion of St Paul

Conversion_on_the_Way_to_Damascus-Caravaggio_(c.1600-1)

On the 10th February we celebrate the feast of St Paul.

The welcome given to the survivors after the shipwreck is described in the Acts of the Apostles (XXVIII) by St. Luke:

“And later we learned that the island was called Malta.
And the people who lived there showed us great kindness,
and they made a fire and called us all to warm ourselves… ”

One of my favourite paintings, that has nothing to do with the shipwreck,  is the Conversion of St Paul on the way to Damascus by Caravaggio.

Wishing you all a great holiday for the feast of St Paul

The PN was partly destroyed by PN people harming other PN people. It has not yet apologised for this. Now too some PL people who have never had it so good are riding roughshod over genuine PL and PN and independent people. Sharks whether blue or red as we all know well have exactly the same bite. Malta’s future may be rosy or it may be tested in the years to come. Whatever the case we need to be united on truly good governance to have the best chance of withstanding the forces of evil now uncomfortably close to Europe’s shores.

St.Paul’s journey to his conversion started the moment he fell off his high horse.
This should be a thought of reflection to each and every one of us. We must be humble to see greatness, we must go blind to appreciate the light and we must live slavery to appreciate freedom.
Happy Feast to all of good will.

Illum ras ir-Randan u ma jiswiex laham.
Jghidu li l-hobz tih lil min jaf jieklu. Igifieri bicca xoghol tiegha lil min jaf jghamilha – Meritokrazija.
Issa li qed jigri hu, li min qed jinghata posizzjoni li thalli l bwiet imfawwra bil-flus ma jafux jikluh il-hobz, imma jewilla il-laham jafu jmexximxuh!
Hallih ha jhabbat la x-xitan irid hekk!
Min ghandu l-bzar iroxxu u min m’ghandux jibqa’ jittewweb.
