Strenghtening the police force through better work terms and conditions, better equipment and training for the police and a decent union are major points in my private members motion currently debated in parliament, which iI filed in parliament last November a month before the Opposition’s no confidence motion against Carm Mifsud Bonnici.

In the past weeks I had the opportunity to discuss with the Prime Minister reforms to the police force and I was glad when we agreed the police should have better remuneration.

Tonight this development was announced by the Prime Minister and this is good news.

It is clear that the reforms which were being blocked by former Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici, due to lethargy, procrastination and lack of political will and vision, are now being implemented, after my private members motion started to be discussed in parliament.

      If JD does not say the truth about a survey done recently by Misco on behalf of the EU commission , that it was inconsistent, cause it was not a face to face survey only , online and phone calling, so the poor 20% of the population on the breadline were never approached.     Coming back to the reform, as we seem to have deviated- I hope the police reform will not just include a pay rise. I hope the corp will be re trained, and cleaned up.
    It is unacceptable to see Police inspectors roaming about PaceVille, eating and drinking with people that have shady reputations.
    I hope the police will also get what in Italy are called Guradia della Finanza.
    If we are going to tackle the Drug problem in Malta, besides working on the roads with addicts and traffickers or informants, the police should also be able to work from an office investigating bank accounts etc..Paceville seems to belong to a particular young person, and money seems no problem..as he continues his monopoly game of buying more outlets.

    This latest silly attack on Claudio Grech by Debono just goes to prove what Debono is all about.

    A silly stupid mistake seventeen years ago by a twenty year old should never have been brought up unless there are personal agendas involved. Debono knows that Austin Gatt is calling a day in politics so now he comes out against those whom he perceives are being pushed by AG and is ready to go the whole hog a resurrect matters of time long gone by.

    This is truly shameful and shows once more that Debono is the egocentric person he has constantly proved himself to be.

    The only thing I would like to say is that I have never seen a politician as good as Franco. I am 32 years old and many other young people think it the same way. We are fed up of the politicians that does not give a damn about the population but they care only about what they gain.

    Franco Debono was the only person who took a stand and talked about what we feel.

    Don’t be like they were in the old days……. We need to see what Malta needs and not what the ministers put in their pockets
